Buy Direct

Life has changed since March 2020. We’ve been swamped with orders for three years: our first priority is existing customers. So people wishing to be customers go onto a waitlist until our supply closely matches demand. Then we cheerfully welcome you to on-going customer status. We will get to you but we’re not able to say how soon that may be.

Direct Sales

We sell directly to consumers, and options are available to pick up in Columbia, St. Louis, or at the farm. Read on to learn more about placing and receiving your order. To order, call us at (573) 682-5536 or send an email to coveredlfarm@gmail.com

>Pick up in Columbia, MO

We deliver frozen packages of individual cuts every Wednesday in Columbia, MO starting about 1:45 pm at the Clovers Natural Market on East Broadway. Then, I work my way across town to Clovers Forum. I’m happy to meet customers for direct sales along this route or at a mutually convenient location. Our price list for direct sales is out of date. Rather than hire someone to update it for me, simply send an email to coveredlfarm@gmail.com and identify whether you are in mid-MO or in the StL metro area and I will send you the current price list, effective Mar 2023.

>Pick up in St. Louis

If you are in the St Louis metro area, we will be happy to meet you at Olympia (formerly Office Depot) in Manchester or at Gravois Bluffs in Fenton. We’re there about every 45 days (Apr 21, 2023; Jun 9, 2023; Jul 28, 2023, etc), usually between 12:00 and 2:00 pm. Prices are slightly higher to partially cover our travel.

>Visit the Farm

You are welcome to visit our farm, see the cattle, check out the pastured pigs (seasonal) and fill your beef order. Call us to set a time, please, at (573) 682-5536.

Quarters, Halves and Whole Beeves

We harvest beeves every month, so you are never far away from filling your freezer with our delicious and nutritious beef. It will be cut to your specs by Swiss Meat and Sausage, a USDA processor, south of Hermann, MO or Central Missouri Meat & Sausage near Fulton, MO.

Our current prices are $4.00/lb for a quarter, $3.80/lb for a half and $3.70/lb for a whole beef ($.10/lb higher for St. Louis customers). Processing is about another $.90/lb for shrink wrap or $1.10/lb for vacuum packaging. A typical half weighs 280 – 320 lbs. A half will fill about 6 or 7 full paper grocery sacks depending upon whether you request broth bones. Plan your freezer space accordingly.

We request at least a month’s notice for your bulk order, but longer is better. For first time buyers, your name goes onto our waitlistl until we see an opening. I’ll then ask for a deposit: $100 for a quarter or half and $200 for a whole. That will put you on the reservation list. Note that from the time your name goes on the reservation list until your beef will be harvested is about 2 1/2 months, and 3 months until it is packaged, frozen and ready for pick up. [prices as of April 2023]

Check in the FAQs section for the rest of the details on bulk purchases.

Too Busy to Shop? Try Mid-MO Local Foods

Rhett Hartman makes deliveries throughout mid-MO with our beef and meat/produce from a multitude of other local farmers. Contact him at 816.807.6420, email him at mo.local.routes@gmail.com or check out his web site at https://molocalroutes.wordpress.com for a price list. A number of people appreciate the convenience of his service because he delivers to your door.

We don’t ship or sell at farmer’s markets

We’re big on ‘local’ so we decline to ship. Sorry. But if you are not in our local area, then I recommend US Wellness Meats of Canton, MO, which will ship quality meats anywhere in this country or Canada. Their web site is grasslandbeef.com.

Farmer’s Markets are certainly local but we meet customers face-to-face on Wednesdays during deliveries and other times as arranged. We prefer to be away from the farm only one day per week.
